KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Saturday ordered the authorities concerned to arrest perpetrators of an armed clash that left a dozen people dead in central Parwan province.
A 13th individual was injured in the gun-battle that broke out between two rival groups on Friday in the Jabalus Saraj district, seven kilometres north of Charikar, the provincial capital, Parwan Governor Abdul Basir Salangi was quoted as saying.
Karzai phoned Salangi and discussed with him the deadly gunbattle, a statement from the Presidential Palace said. He directed security organs to arrest those involved in the incident and bring them to justice as soon as possible.
The clash happened between armed supporters of Ainuddin and Safa in the Koz Guzar area, according to the district chief, Samandar Sikandari.
Ainuddin, his wife, a son, a brother, two guards and two supporters were killed by their rivals. Safa, who has been arrested by police and is being interrogated, lost his brother to the clash.
