KABUL): Three policemen and as many insurgents have been during clashes in central Daikundi and northern Kunduz provinces, officials said on Sunday.

Armed insurgents stormed an Afghan Local Police (ALP) post in the Kujran district on Saturday night, killing one ALP member and injuring another, Daikundi crime branch chief, Col. Nawroz Ali, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Three attackers were killed when the police returned fire, he said, adding Taliban insurgents often sneaked into the province from Helmand and Uruzgan to attack security posts.

In Kunduz, two policemen were killed during a clash with insurgents in Kaprak area of Imam Sahib district.

The district police chief, Amanuddin Quraishi said another two policemen were wounded during the clash which he said also resulted into casualties on the Taliban militants, but he had no exact figures.

Qudratullah, a resident of the area, said it was for the first time that police and insurgents had clashed in their area.
