KABUL): Roads measuring 140 kilometres would be constructed in Kunduz, Badakhshan and Bamyan provinces, officials said on Monday.
Two bridges would also be built in Baghlan and Khost provinces under contracts signed between the Ministry of Public Works and different executing companies.
Deputy Minister of Public Works Mohammad Akbar Barakzai said at the contract-signing ceremony that the projects — costing 358 million afghanis — would be implemented in one year with financial support from World Bank.
The projects included a 60-kilometre road in Badakhshan, 48 km in Bamyan, 28 km in Kunduz, a 68-metre bridge in Baghlan and another 160-metre link in Khost, he said.
He hoped the implementation of the schemes would help education and security sectors and assist in developing the economy of the area.
