Mine blast kills 60-year-old Panjwai farmer

Mine blast kills 60-year-old Panjwai farmer

Jul 28, 2013 - 14:27

KANDAHAR CITY (PANinfo-icon): A 60-year-old farmer was killed in a mine blast in the Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province on Sunday morning, the governor’s office said.

The man was busy harvesting grapes when he stepped on a hidden mine that went off and injured him seriously. A statement issued from the governor’s office said the farmer was taken to hospital by security personnel but died of his wounds there.

The statement accused the Talibaninfo-icon of planting the mine to target security forces. It said the Taliban continued to plant the improvised explosive devices near fields and orchards and as a result often civilians were killed and wounded.
