HERAT CITY (PAN officer was killed by unidentified gunmen in western Herat province, an official said on Sunday.
Abdul Rahim Bimar was shot dead on Saturday evening by two motorcyclists in the district, the town’s administrative head, Lal Mohammad Omarzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said a suspect had been arrested in connection with the murder and a bomb recovered from him.
The 60-year-old Bimar served as Shindand education chief for the last eight years.
A resident of the area, Anwar Shah, praised Bimar for his efforts and services to promote education the district.
He said one of his achievements was paving the ground for education in native languages.
No one has so far claimed responsibility of his assassination.
