KUNDUZ CITY (PANinfo-icon): A Talibaninfo-icon shadow district chief and three militants were killed and 29 others captured alive during an operation in northwestern Kunduz province, an official said on Monday.

Police conducted the operation in Gor Tepa area on the outskirts of Kunduz City on Sunday night, provincial police spokesman Syed Sarwar Hussaini told a news conference.

Qari Latif, the Taliban-designated Chahar Dara district chief, was involved in killing two policemen, planning suicide attacks and coordinating militant activities in Kunduz, Hussaini said.

Bodies of the militants, including Taliban group leader Qari Gul's, were taken to the Kunduz Civil Hospital.

He said 17 fighters were held in the Kolabi forest of Chahar Dara district on Monday morning. Another six Taliban were captured during an operation in the Arbab Zarghon area of Dash-i-Archi district.

But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed four Afghan Local Police (ALP) members including a commander were killed and five others wounded during an ambush in Chahar Dara.

Taliban also attacked some security posts in Dasht-i-Archi district and inflicted casualties on policemen, Mujahid said.
