QALA-I-NAW (PAN): Security forces said on Friday two soldiers and three insurgents were killed during a clash in northwestern Badghis province.
A senior official of 207th Zafar Military Corps told Pajhwok Afghan News an explosive device was found in Muqar district.
The bomb went off while being defused, killing an Afghan soldier and wounding three others. They were shifted to hospital where they are said to be in stable condition.
Resident Sakhi Dad, giving a witness account, said the blast killed one ANA soldier and injured six others who were evacuated to hospital by an ambulance.
Police and insurgents exchanged gunfire on the Qala-i-Naw-Herat highway near Sabzak Kotal area.
Brig. Gen. Sharafuddin, the police chief, said he alerted his forces after complaints that Taliban were looting passengers on the highway.
Police rushed to the scene, killing three insurgents in a clash. Two Taliban were injured during the fight, he added.
