JALALABAD (PAN): A mine-making expert was killed and his companion injured as a result of a blast caused by their own explosives in the Khogyani district of eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, police said

The two were making bombs in a graveyard near the Kagi bazaar area when the blast took place, deputy provincial police chief Col. Masoom Khan Hashmi told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the slain individual had long been making bombs and a number of Afghan security personnel had been killed and wounded by mines made by him.

The injured insurgent was taken to the district civil hospital for treatment, the police official said.

The hospital deputy director, Dr. Noor Agha, confirmed receiving a dead body and an injured person from the blast scene.
