KABUL, India and the US will hold their next round of trilateral meet next month in New York to discuss the post-2014 situation in the war-torn country.
US Ambassador to India Nancy Powell told reporters in the Indian capital on Tuesday that the next round would be on the hinges of UN General Assembly in New York in September.
Terming as “very important” India’s engagement with Afghan government, she said the US acknowledged New Delhi’s role in Afghanistan’s future.
“I would like to acknowledge the important role India plays in Afghanistan’s future, particularly in terms of business. Your working with Afghan government is very important and the US appreciates this,” she told reporters there.
On the post 2014 scenario in Afghanistan after the pullout of NATO forces, Powell said trilateral dialogue between India, US and Afghanistan has provided a forum for expressing the concerns by all parties “about the situation and how it evolves and developing solutions for the same.”
She added the US is working closely with Afghan government to conclude the security agreement and that it will continue to work with the security forces in Afghanistan till the agreement is complete.
