LASHKARGAH (PAN): Five civilians were killed and three others wounded during a roadside bombing in the Marja district of southern Helmand province on Saturday, an official said.
The casualties occurred early in the morning when the vehicle the individuals were traveling in struck a roadside bomb in Sistani area, government official Lal Ahmad Ahmadi told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Belonging to Sistani, the people were on their way to Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand. A woman and three children were among the dead.
A resident of the area, Akhtar Mohammad, said the incident happened in the Sado Khan village of the area.
Three other women were killed in similar attacks in Nokarzai and Shakarzai areas of Sangin district late on Friday, said the governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak.
Emergency Hospital officials confirmed receiving three wounded people, including one in critical condition.
