ISLAMABAD (PAN’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province, a minister said on Sunday.

In an exclusive interview with Pajhwok Afghan News, KPK Minister for Technical Education Bakht Baidar said he had met Afghan students and heads of technical education institutes.

He assured a visiting Afghan delegation that up to 400 Afghan students would be enrolled in KPK institutes. He desired expansion of people-to-people contacts between the two nations.

A member of the Qaumi Watan Party led by Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao, Baidar said the ex-interior minister had discussed issues of common interest with President Hamid Karzai in Kabul on Saturday.

The former interior minister was accompanied by his son and KPK Senior Minister Sikander Hayat Sherpao on his visit to Kabul, Baidar explained.

He voiced the KP government’s willingness to provide educational facilities for Afghan women. He said the suggestion had been shared with the visiting delegation.

Decades of conflict had deprived people on both sides of the border of their right to education, he remarked, saying governments were responsible for equipping the rising generation with sound schooling.
