KABUL’s problems and ensuring transparency in the 2014 elections.

A leader of the alliance told reporters in Kabul their key objectives included addressing the country’s political, social, cultural and economic problems, as well as holding of elections in accordance with the constitution.

Mohammad Akbari, also a member of the Wolesi Jirga from central Bamyan province, said the grouping included four parties — Itedal-i-Milli Islami, Wahdat-i-Milli Islami, Insijam-i-Milli Islami and Kaar Wa Tawse — leading national figures and university teachers.

“Our aim is to protect the core national interest and ward off threats to the country through unity and solidarity,” the parliamentarian said, extending a helping hand to all political forces in dealing with the current challenges.

Senate Chairman Fazal Hadi Muslimyar, who is not a member of the alliance, was also present at the news conference. He called for all political forces to join hands for steering the country out of the present crisis.

For an orderly transfer of power, all groups and alliances should share their ideas and strategies, Muslimyar believed, alleging some foreign elements were trying to divide the Afghans in a bid to achieve their nefarious designs.
