Karzai’s Islamabad visit billed as important

ISLAMABAD (PAN as important, a senior official in Islamabad said on Wednesday both countries could play a key role in maintaining peace in the region after 2014.

Foreign Office spokesman Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry told Pajhwok Afghan News Pakistan and Afghanistan enjoyed historical, cultural, political and trade relations that must be strengthened.

He said Pakistan was ready for multi-dimensional cooperation with Afghanistan after 2014, when most foreign combat troops are scheduled to leave the neighbouring country.

Chaudhry added Pakistan remained committed to supporting efforts for bringing peace and stability to Afghanistan and would back every step that could help achieve that goal

Karzai is due to visit Pakistan next week at the invitation of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif.
