KABUL‘s troubled northwestern region of Waziristan on Thursday morning.

The bomb hit the commander’s vehicle in Wana, the headquarters of South Waziristan Agency, near the Afghanistan border, a Pakistani TV channel reported.

According to Geo News, monitored in Kabul, the explosion occurred in the Sholam area near Wana. The slain commander was identified as Ghulam Jan Wazir.

Elsewhere in the northwest, the outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) warned women of Hangu district against voting in today’s by-election.

If the women came to polling stations, they would be kidnapped and killed, the insurgents warned in leaflets found in Hangu bazaar on Wednesday.

Stringent security arrangements have been put in place, as voting in by-elections on 41 national and provincial assembly seats got underway on Thursday, DawnNews reported.
