KABUL): Ten fighters have been killed and a dozen others detained as a result of separate security incidents and operations in different parts of the country, officials said on Saturday.

Nine irresponsible armed men were killed during infighting in the western province of Ghor, the provincial police chief, Col. Dilawar Shah Dilawar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Seven Taliban and two supporters of an illegal commander, Fazal Ahad, were killed during a clash in the Suleman area of Daulaina district, he said, adding 40 families had been displaced as a result of the three-day clash. Eight fighters from both sides were injured.

However, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said they had killed seven tribal militiamen and wounded 15 others during the clash. He also acknowledged the loss of four Taliban and injuries to three others.

A dozens of people were detained and one killed during separate operations in Paktia and Maidan Wardak provinces. Police on Friday held two suspected bomb planters in Showak district and seven robbers in the Syed Karam district of southeastern Paktia province, said the police chief, Brig. Gen. Zalmay Oryakhel.

Separately, one Pakistani fighter was killed and another was among three militants detained during separate operations in Chak, Jalrez and Syedabad districts of Maidan Wardak province, the governor’s office said.
