Mayor’s guard injured in Jalalabad blast

JALALABAD (PAN): A security guard of the mayor was injured in a bomb explosion that rocked the capital of eastern Nangarhar province on Sunday, police said.

The blast in the Pashtunistan Watt area was being investigated, police spokesman Col. Hazrat Hussain Mashriqiwal said, adding the real target remained unclear.

A doctor on duty at the civil hospital confirmed receiving one injured person, saying he was in stable condition.

Witnesses claimed the target was Mayor Lal Agha Kakar, who stayed unharmed. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast that occurred around 1pm.
