KABUL and Auqaf on Sunday said the first flight taking 220 Afghan pilgrims to Saudi Arabia would take off at 1:15am tonight.

Deputy Hajj and Auqaf Minister Daye-ul-Haq Abid told Pajhwok Afghan News a total of 1,167 pilgrims would be carried to Saudi Arabia over the next 24 hours from airports in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.

The ministry has previously said 24,000 pilgrims would be sent to Saudi Arabia during a period of one month from Kabul, Kandahar, Herat, and Mazar-i-Sharif airports this year by Ariana and Safi airlines.
