Javed Faisal, the governor’s spokesman, said the attack took place in the Mandi Hesar Clinic area, close to the Kandahar Airport, at around 10:00am. He put the toll at three dead and six wounded.
He said the dead included a woman, a girl and a boy. The troops escaped unhurt in the assault, claimed by the Taliban.

He claimed seeing bloodied bodies at the site soon after the dust settled. “The three victims were waiting for medical treatment outside the Mandi Hesar Clinic,” he added.
A doctor at the Mirwais Civil Hospital confirmed receiving three dead bodies and six injured people. However, he would not comment on condition of the wounded individuals.
Gen. Abdul Hameed Hameed, the 205th Attal Corps commander, told Pajhwok Afghan News the bomber struck when the convoy of Afghan and International Security Assistance Force soldiers was passing by.
As soon as an Afghan army vehicle passed through the area, the bomber detonated his explosives, leaving three civilians dead and three others injured. He said security personnel suffered no casualties.
As usual, the Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Zabihullah Mujahid, the group’s spokesman, said the target was a US military convoy. Five foreign troops were killed and two of their tanks destroyed, he added.
