KABUL had resumed talks on Bilateral Security Agreement (BSA) in Kabul.
Janan Musazai, the ministry spokesman told a regular media briefing that two rounds of talks on the BSA had been held so far after the negotiations were suspended earlier in the year.
National Security Advisor Dr. Rangin Dadfar Spanta, Security Transition Commission head Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai and Irshad Ahmadi, deputy foreign minister, represented the Afghan side.
US Ambassador to Afghanistan James Cunningham and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) Commander Joseph F. Dunford headed the US team at unofficial talks on the security agreement.
Musazai asked Pakistan Abdul Ghani Baradar to help jump-start the peace process and direct negotiations between the Afghan government and militants.
“After their release from Pakistani detention, I ask Baradar and other Taliban inmates to come to Afghanistan and open their office here and support the government,” the spokesman added.
Musazai said the freed Taliban leaders could stay in Pakistan and establish their office for talks with the Afghan government in a third country if they were not willing to come back to Afghanistan.
