LASHKARGAH (PAN): A female police officer was wounded in an attack by unidentified gunmen in Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province, on Sunday morning.
Nigar was seriously injured in the attack that happened on the way to her office from home, police spokesman Shah Mohammad Ashna told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The police officer is currently under treatment at the Emergency Hospital, according to Shah, who said the attackers on motorbikes managed to escape after the incident.
She was shot with a silencer near the Zargaran Market, the spokesman said, adding that police were investigating the incident.
About two months back, a woman police officer had been killed in a similar assault in the provincial capital.
