Rebel leader killed in Kunar drone strike

ASADABAD (PANinfo-icon): A Talibaninfo-icon-designated district chief has been killed along with three associates in the eastern province of Kunar, an official said on Saturday.

Juma Khan, the Taliban’s head for Ghaziabad district, died in an overnight drone strike in the mountainous area called Aigal, the provincial police chief said.

Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News civilians suffered no casualties in the attack. However, he gave no further details.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident, but coalition forces have targetted a number of insurgents in similar strikes in the district.
