30 insurgents join peace parleys in Ghor

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): Two insurgent groups, comprising 30 fighters, joined the peace process in western Ghorinfo-icon province, officials said on Sunday.

Hailing from Aliyar area and Dawlatyar districts, the groups led by Sarjatuddin and Mullahinfo-icon Mohammad Khan urged the government to initiate reconstructioninfo-icon projects their areas, the governor said.

Syed Anwar Rahmati told Pajhwok Afghan News the surrendering individuals turned in 24 AK-47 assault rifles, five rocket launchers and some ammunitions.

Mullah Mohammad Khan said he had been active against the government over the past four years, but shunned insurgency after invited by the High Peace Councilinfo-icon (HPC) through tribal leaders to negotiate peace.

He urged the government to launch development projects in his area in order to provide residents with jobs

Governor Rahmati promised making efforts to launch uplift projects in their areas and urged them to help prevent intruders from disrupting security in their respective areas.
