A dozen terrorists killed in Dir shootout

ISLAMABAD (PANinfo-icon): A dozen militants were killed during a shootout in Pakistaninfo-icon’s northwestern Lower Dir district near the Afghanistaninfo-icon border, officials said on Sunday.

A patrol of security forces engaged a 20-member group of terrorists at 10pm, killing 12 of the insurgents, who were trying to sneak into the area from Afghanistan.

A Dir-based police official told Pajhwok Afghan News on condition of anonymity that two soldiers were also injured in the 20-minute fire exchange. He offered no further details of the engagement.

A week ago, 16 pro-government tribesmen, including three womeninfo-icon, were killed and nine others wounded in a bomb attack by the Pakistani Talibaninfo-icon on a passenger van in the restive district.
