TALOQAN (PAN clinic, benefitting thousands of residents, was inaugurated in the Yangi district of northeastern Takhar province on Monday, an official said.

The basic health unit has 11 rooms and is built over one acre of land in Kaftar Ali area with healthcare facilities for mothers and children, in addition to vaccinations and other services.

Public Health Director Dr. Hafizullah Safi told Pajhwok Afghan News the project cost id=”mce_marker”46,600, provided by the Regional Capacity Development Fund (RCDF). It took a year to complete.

A resident of the area, Faisal, said previously they had to take their patients to the district centre or the civil hospital in Taloqan for treatment.

He said many patients had died on their way to hospital due the long distance. “But now we are happy having a clinic in our own village.”

The resident, however, called for the recruitment of professional and specialist doctors at the facility and supply of quality medicine.
