MAZAR-I-SHARIF (PANinfo-icon): Security officials in northern Sar-i-Pul province on Thursday claimed detaining the Talibaninfo-icon military commission’s head.

Juma Khan was detained with cooperation from intelligence agents of neighbouring Balkh province, the deputy police chief for Sar-i-Pul said.

Col. Sakhi Dad Haideri told Pajhwok Afghan News Juma Khan was in charge of emplacing landmines, planning ambushes and looting passengers in Sar-i-Pul.

Governor Abdul Jabbar Haqbin, meanwhile, hailed the insurgent commander’s arrest as a good step toward reinforcing highway security in the province.
