NEW YORK (PANinfo-icon): Pakistaninfo-icon has once again called for a halt to drone strikes, saying the attacks are violative of international law and hamper collective efforts for combating the scourge of terrorism.

Sartaj Aziz told the 15-member UN body that the attacks -- amounting to a clear breach of international humanitarian law -- were detrimental to efforts at fighting terrorism.

“Drone strikes result in civilian casualties, including womeninfo-icon and children,” Aziz added, agreeing with Secretary General Ban Ki-moon’s observation in his report that the strikes had a serious impact on the psycho-social healthinfo-icon of children.

The Security Council adopted a resolution seeking to reinforce measures to prevent illicit transfers, accumulation and misuse of small weapons.
