The drone strike, the second in as many days, occurred in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan early in the morning, killing three people and injuring two others.
Pakistani media reported the pilotless aircraft fired two missiles into a house in Mohammad Khel village. The target was a compound housing militants, according to DawnNews.
“A US drone fired two missiles on a militant compound, killing three rebels,” the news agency AFP quoted a senior security official as saying. But the victims’ identities could not be ascertained immediately.
On Sunday, six insurgents were killed and three others injured in a similar strike in the Dargamandi area, seven kilometres north of Miranshah — the main town in North Waziristan.
Hours earlier, the Foreign Office in Islamabad strongly condemned Sunday’s attack as a unilateral strike that violated Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
