ISLAMABAD (PANinfo-icon): Policemen suffered casualties on Friday when a roadside bomb exploded on the outskirts of Peshawar, the capital of Pakistaninfo-icon’s northwester Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The target of the bomb attack in the restive area of Pishtakhara was a police van patrolling the volatile area on Kohat road, a local police official told reporters at the scene.

As a result of the power explosion, one policeman was killed, two others were wounded and their vehicle destroyed. Police and rescue teams reached the site that was cordoned off and a search operation launched.

The injured policemen were transferred to hospital, where they are said to be in stable condition. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing.

A day earlier, a suicide attack on a militant commander's compound in the tribal region of Orakzai killed 17 people and wounded several others.
