GHAZNI CITY (PAN commanders have been killed during an overnight operation by Afghan Special Forces in southern Ghazni province, while a bomb blast injured five civilians in southern Helmand, officials said on Sunday.

The four insurgent leaders were killed during a clash in Jamal Qala area of Andar district on Saturday night, a spokesman for the 203rd Thunder Military Corps said.

Nazifullah Sultani identified the slain individuals Mullah Younas, Mullah Qadir, Mullah Qadim and Mullah Abdullah. Mullah Abdullah, a Pakistani national, was involved in a number of insurgent attacks, kidnappings and harassing people, he alleged.

Elsewhere in Ghazni, one militant was killed and two others wounded during a clash with Afghan forces in Gilan district.

The military spokesman said Afghan forces suffered no casualties during the firefight.

In Ghazni City, a hand-grenade blast inside a mosque left one person dead and six others wounded. Worshippers were preparing to leave the mosque when the blast took place at the gate.

In Helmand’s capital Lashkargah, a bomb exploded early Sunday, injuring five civilians.

The governor’s spokesman, Omar Zwak, confirmed the blast, but said two civilians had been wounded.

However, a doctor at the civil hospital, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they had been delivered five wounded people from the scene.
