KABUL or upper house of the parliament members on Sunday called for the assassination of Logar governor to be investigated and his assassins apprehended.

The senators also asked the masses to strongly condemn the alleged use of a copy of the Quran in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital of Logar.

Logar security officials said the bomb had been planted in a microphone, but the spy service later said it was hidden in a copy of the holy book.

Jamal was laid to rest in Kabul two days after his assassination. His funeral was attended by high ranking government officials, colleagues and relatives.

Maulvi Mohiuddin Munsif, who represents central Kapisa province in the upper house, told today’s session assassination attacks on elders and high officials had once again gained momentum across the country.

The lawmaker came hard on security organs for failing to protect trial elders and senior government officials.

He alleged some criminal gangs had also been active murdering religious and tribal elders in the name of Taliban.

His colleague from southeastern Khost province, Arifullah Pashtun, said Logar security officials had been slow in providing security for the governor.

“A handful of people were present at the mosque when the blast took place. It was a pre-planned attack and the mosque had not been checked properly,” he claimed.

Pashtun asked the house to summon the security officials concerned to brief lawmakers on the tragic incident.

MP Hafiz Abdul Qayyum from eastern Nuristan said the government should properly investigate Jamal’s assassination and arrest those involved.
