CHARIKAR): Armed insurgents have blocked the Parwan-Bamyan highway over the past four days in Seyah Gard district of central Parwan province, bringing to a halt vehicular movement, officials said on Monday.

The militants have placed huge rocks in the middle of the road that connects Shinwari, Seyah Gard, Surkh Parsa and Sheikh Ali districts of Parwan, the Seyah Gard district chief Mohammad Syed Siddique told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said vehicles stayed off the road due clashes between the insurgents and security forces.

One Afghan Local Police (ALP) member, one Afghan National Army (ANA) soldier and one militant have been killed during the clashes on the road over the past few days.

Eight civilians also suffered injuries when rockets were fired by the insurgents at security forces, he continued.

Mohammad Masoom Mujaddedi, a resident of Seyah Gard, confirmed eight civilians had been wounded as a result of rocket fire, but he had no idea who fired them.

He said militants had blocked the road in Kaji Zaghan, Qalacha, Dahnfara Gird and Rangab areas in Seyah Gard and in Tangi Lali area of Sheikh Ali district.

The Sheikh Ali district chief Noor Aqa Sami, however, said security forces had reopened the road in Tangi Lali area.

He added vehicles remained off the route fearing further clashes between security forces and insurgents.
