KABUL) on Monday said it was in talks with the Presidential Palace and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on how to grant overseas Afghans their right to vote in the April 5 presidential elections.
In an interview with the state-run TV, IEC spokesman Noor Mohammad Noor said if they received funds, a system would be developed to enable Afghan expatriates to cast their votes in the upcoming polls.
He said millions of Afghans lived in Pakistan, Iran, India, the US, and Europe, saying if resources were made available to them, they would grant overseas Afghan the right to vote.
In the 2004 elections, overseas Afghans were allowed to cast their votes, but later deprived of this right in elections held after that.
