KABUL— announced Wednesday it had successfully completed its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).

Safi Airways is largely viewed as committed in maintaining uncompromising international safety standards and is the first Afghan airline to be certified with IOSA, which is regarded as a matter of pride for the company.

It merits mention that the IOSA is the benchmark for safety management adhered to by all IATA carriers worldwide. In addition, Safi Airways also operates in compliance with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) requirements and has the credit of first Afghan carrier complying with the strict International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regulations.

In a statement, Zaidan Khalifat, director- quality & safety of Safi Airways said: “Our current IOSA certification expires in February 2014. The audit was carried out by the Accredited Organization of IATA for two years up till February 2016. I am proud all the relevant departments have done well in the audit and the auditors are pleased with our operating standards and compliance. Today at Safi Airways, we operate a state of the art operation with IOSA and EASA conformity. Being an Afghan carrier, it’s a remarkable achievement.”

Being IOSA certified, Safi Airways is able to work closely with other international airlines in the region and beyond on code share and bilateral agreements in extending the carriers reach on the global aviation arena.

Safi Airways is a full service carrier operating a two cabin configuration, business and economy class with a modern fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

It is noted that the airline currently operates to Dubai, Delhi, and Islamabad on the international sector and Herat on the domestic sector. By the beginning of 2014, the airline intends to operate few more international destinations.
