PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): Six militants and one policeman were killed during a clash in northern Baghlan province, an official said on Thursday.
The firefight on Wednesday night broke out after a group of insurgents attacked a police post in Mullakhel area of Baghlan-i-Markazi district, provincial police chief Syed Meer Ahmadzai told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The corpses of two militants remained on the scene and the rest took away by their fleeing comrades, he said.
One policeman was also killed during the clash that left another four policemen injured, the police official said.
An elder of the area, Arbab Nasim, said three civilians — a woman and two children — were injured when a stray rocket hit two adjacent houses during the last night clash.
He said the rocket exploded around 2am midnight and its pieces hit windows of two houses, causing injuries to inmates. The elder had no idea from which direction the rocket had been fired.
