KABUL (PAN): The Musharikat-i-Milli party on Tuesday alleged Iran and Pakistan were trying to interfere in the Afghan presidential elections by supporting certain candidates. Najibullah Kabuli, the party chief, told a meeting in the central capital that he had found documents indicating the neighbours’ financial support to election contenders of their choice. Without naming anyone, Kabuli promised foreign-backed runners would be exposed after the Independent Election Commission (IEC) released final list of candidates. Kabuli claimed some individuals on the preliminary list were guilty of human rights violations and war crimes, while others had produced thumb impressions of supporters to the commission. Conditions for a presidential wannabe include producing a million voter cards to the election body, but this formality is hard to meet and some runners have allegedly used forged thumb impressions.
