Alleged suicide bomber held in Kandahar

KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): An alleged suicide bomber was arrested with explosives concealed in a laptop computer in southern Kandahar province, the spy service said on Wednesday.

The National Directorate of Security (NDSinfo-icon) in a statement said the would-be suicide bomber, Rahmatullah, had received training in Pakistaninfo-icon’s lawless tribal region of Waziristan near the Afghanistaninfo-icon border.

It alleged the detainee wanted to target senior government officials in Kandahar, but he was arrested before reaching his target.

The NDS statement said Rahmatullah had confessed to receiving orders from a Talibaninfo-icon Quetta Council member, Wardak, to carry out a suicide attack in Kandahar.
