KABUL): President Hamid Karzai on Wednesday talked to family members of those killed and injured in a roadside bombing in the Andar district of southern Ghazni province.
At least 18 civilians, including 14 women, were killed on Sunday when a vehicle carrying wedding guests struck a roadside bomb in Sahib Khan village of Andar.
The Presidential Palace said Karzai, currently on a five-day state visit to London, phoned the victims’ families and expressed his sympathies to them. Offering prayers for the departed souls, Karzai promised extending financial support to the families.
Ghazni Governor Musa Khan Akbarzada and other officials attended funeral prayers for the dead on Monday. The governor expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and promised 500,000 afghanis in assistance to each family losing their relatives.
