KABUL): The Independent Directorate of Local Governance (IDLG) on Monday said Ghulam Sakhi Baghlani had been appointed as new governor of northern Kunduz province, replacing Mohammad Anwar Jagdalak.
IDLG spokesman Tawab Ghorzang told Pajhwok Afghan News Baghlani had been deputy governor of Samangan province for the last four years.
Jagdalak, a former National Olympic Committee chief and member of the Jamiat-i-Islami party, was appointed as Kunduz governor about three years back.
The Office of Administrative Affairs said in a statement Baghlani was appointed as Kunduz governor in response to IDLG’s recommendation.
The statement said Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai had been appointed as police chief for central Logar province and Brig. Gen. Mohammad Razzaq Yaqubi as police chief for western Farah province.
