KABUL, the 10th of Muharram, the Presidential Palace said on Monday.
A statement from the Council of Ministers said the commission had been created in compliance with a presidential decree to chalk out a comprehensive security plan for procession routes, imambargahs (Shiite mosques) and mourners.
The commission would focus on open areas where militant activities were possible and would try hard to prevent any untoward incident from taking place, the statement said.
Senior security officials, including Deputy Interior Minister Gen. Mohammad Ayub Salangi and Deputy Director General of National Directorate of Security Maj. Gen Mohammad Yasin Zia have been appointed as members of the commission.
The statement said provincial security organs had been directed to take elaborate measures during Muharram.
