KABUL): Three Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel have been detained in connection with fuel theft in the Jalrez district of central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Thursday.

A container transporting Supreme Group’s fuel from western Farah province to Kabul had gone missing in the Syedabad district of Wardak, the governor’s spokesman said.

Attaullah Khogyani told Pajhwok Afghan News that immediately after the incident, Governor Abdul Majeed Khogyani directed security official to find the missing fuel container.

The vehicle containing 50,000 litres of oil was found in Jalrez district, he said, adding three ALP officials and two other men had sold the fuel to a pump station owner in the area.

Khogyani said the detainees, who had confessed to their involvement in the fuel theft, were being held in Pul-i-Charkhi prison on the eastern outskirts of Kabul.
