Hundreds donate blood on Ashura in Bamyan

BAMYAN CITY (PAN, on Thursday donated blood to hospitals as part of an ongoing campaign in central Bamyan province.

Governor Ghulam Ali Wahdat told Pajhwok Afghan News the campaign was aimed at promoting the culture of blood donation and helping those in need of blood.

He said Shiite youth, who flagellated themselves with blades attached to chains, should instead donate their blood on the Day of Ashura.

Public Health Director Rehana told reporters hundreds of people, including females, donated blood on Wednesday and Thursday as part of the blood donation drive.
