KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): President Hamid Karzai on Thursday called for further cementing bilateral relations, including enhanced economic cooperation, with Iran.

He issued the call during a meeting with Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ebrahim Rahimpour in Kabul, a statement from the Presidential Palace said.

A day earlier, acting Foreign Ministry Zarar Ahmad Osmani thanked Iran for contributing to the restoration of peace and stability in Afghanistaninfo-icon. At a meeting with Rahimpour, he stressed expansion of bilateral relations.

Rahimpour in turn briefed him on Iran’s principled policy on Afghanistan. Restoration of durable peace and stability in Afghanistan was one of Iran’s priorities, the visiting dignitary said.
