Efforts on to add 5 professions to curriculum

KABUL on Sunday said it had launched efforts to add five professional courses to the education curriculum and establish as many institutes in this regard in Kabul.

The professions include mine extraction, railway tracks construction, food processing, carpet-weaving, hotelling and tourism, said Rahimullah Samandar, the programme manager at the ministry.

He told Pajhwok Afghan News the programme was initially started in 2011 when a survey was conducted in the market to specify five professions.

He said a specific curriculum would be created in Dari and Pashto languages over the next one and a half year for the subjects to be taught in the proposed institutes.

However, Samdandar said the curriculum would require to be confirmed by an international organization, saying the proposed institutes would be established next year in Kabul.

In order to execute the project, a contract had already been signed between the Education Ministry and the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Martyrs and Disabled.

As many as 147 vocational high schools and 105 technical institutes are operating in 33 professions across the country.
