KABULinfo-icon (PANinfo-icon): An International Security Assistance Force (ISAFinfo-icon) soldier was killed in a roadside bombing in southern Afghanistaninfo-icon on Sunday, the alliance said.

The soldier’s death was announced in a brief statement from the NATOinfo-icon-led force that neither gave the victim’s nationality nor the exact location of the improvised explosive device attack.

Sunday’s death raises the number of coalition troops killed in Afghanistan so far this year to 148, according to the figures given by ISAF.

A total of 402 ISAF troops were killed in Afghanistan in 2012 -- down from 566 fatalities in 2011. Most of the fallen troops were Americans killed in the Talibaninfo-icon’s southern heartland, which is plagued by IED strikes.
