GHAZNI CITY (PAN): A policeman and six militants have been killed and as many injured in southern Ghazni province, an official said Tuesday.
Abdullah Khairkhwa, Giro district chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News a group of insurgents stormed a police check post in the Sheli area in of the town.
In the ensuing gunbattle, a policeman and four militants were killed. He said that four insurgents were injured in the clash in Giro, lying 70 kilometers from the provincial capital.
Shafaq Nang, the governor’s spokesman said an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF and injured two others in the Mangor area on the outskirts of Ghazni City.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, acknowledged the loss of two fighters in Mangor. He confirmed clashes in Giro but had no information about casualties.
