Nov 24, 2013 - 12:10

MAIMANA (PANinfo-icon): A former commander of the Junbish-i-Millie Islami party, led by Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, has been killed in northern Faryab province, an official said on Sunday.

Syed Najibullah was shot dead by a gunman near the Chehilgazi Bazaar in Qaisar district late on Saturday, the town’s administrative head said.

Abdul Jamil Siddiqui said Najibullah headed a police group in Qaisar, where he had allegedly killed a named Syed Qutbuddin six years back. Subsequently, he was jailed and released early this year.

He added the ex-commander had been killed by Syed Ismail, Qutbuddin’s brother. The murderer has fled the district and joined Talibaninfo-icon.

Syed Abdul Baqi Hashimi, the provincial council secretary and member of the Junbish-i-Millie Islami, said the commander had been killed in revenge.
