SHARAN (PAN): Nine people, including two policemen, were wounded during a bomb blast in the Mata Khan district of southeastern Paktika province on Tuesday, officials said.
The explosion took place in the morning when an explosives-rigged motorbike was detonated with a remote-control device near policemen walking in the bazaar, the Paktika police chief said.
Brig. Gen. Dawlat Khan Zadran told Pajhwok Afghan News that one policeman sustained serious injuries in the blast, which is yet to be claimed by anyone.
Michael, a shopkeeper in the area, said police cordoned off the site and evacuated the wounded to hospital. He added one policeman was in critical condition.
Located 20 kilometers south of the provincial capital, Mata Khan is one of the insecure districts, which has witnessed a string of such attacks in recent months.
