Police officer kills 2 militants in trade fire

KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): A border police officer shot dead two militants who attacked him in the capital of southern Kandahar province, an official said on Thursday.

The police officer was on his way home when two armed militants opened fire at him on Wednesday, police spokesman, Zia Durrani, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The officer returned fire, killing the pair, he said, adding a pistol and a motorcycle belonging to the attackers were also seized.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident.
