KABUL were either pressurized to cast their votes against their choice or their vote was being cast in their absence.
Qadria Yazdanparast, IHRC women department commissioner said women were deprived of their political rights in most parts of far-flung areas and they were being pressurized to vote against the candidate of their choice.
These views were exchanged in a gathering of Musharikat-e- Milli Organization titled “my vote my future right,” which was attended by a large number of locals, civil society organizations, rights’ groups and religious scholars.
Elections were democratic right of every individual in which everyone should express his/her right to choose a candidate of their choice and the ballots should be conducted in free, fair and independent way, she added.
She said who cast women’s votes were violating secret ballot law of election commission, adding it was violating women rights to vote as well.
“In most cases, women are not allowed to cast direct vote and they are kept away from polls because of social restrains,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) said more than 3 million people obtained voter registration cards, including 1,018,000 female.
Sayed Abdul Ahad Musavi, a civil society activist proposed monitoring of polling stations through mobile teams saying that women would feel secure to vote during elections.
Rizwani Bamyani, a religious figure said elections were of paramount importance for good governance saying the upcoming election was a golden opportunity for masses to choose their favorite candidates. “Vote is the basic right of every citizen and we decide the future of our country though our vote, he added.
