KABUL): Afghan industrialists are taking part for the first time in the 19th Azerbaijan International Telecommunication and IT Exhibition and Conference that began a day earlier in Baku, the central capital.
An Afghan delegation headed by Communications and Information Technology Minister Amirzai Sangin is in Baku to attend the event featuring 300 companies from 28 countries. The exhibition will continue until Thursday.
A member of the Afghan delegation and advisor to the IT ministry, Dr. Faiz Mohammad Zaland, told Pajhwok Afghan News nine Afghan companies were taking part in the IT show.
He said it was for the first time in the history of Afghanistan industry that Afghan industrialists were representing the country in an international event.
He said the Afghan delegation also included Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) chief Wafiullah Iftikhar.
Zaland said Afghan products were widely praised and welcomed at the international exhibition in Baku, where many companies proposed joint ventures with Afghan firms to support the young industry in their country.
He said the Ministry of Communications and IT had recently intensified its efforts for further promoting the IT sector and luring investments.
He said an international exhibition would be organised this year in Kabul to attract local businessmen for investment in the IT sector.
